Kick off for the Finest Beer Selection 2025
Early bird discount until 14 March 2025
Neustadt/Weinstraße, 10.2.2025
The Finest Beer Selection, the contemporary, transparent seal of quality for beers, is entering its third round. Breweries can now register their beers for the innovative, easy-to-understand tasting format at particularly attractive conditions. The early bird discount ends on 14 March 2025 and regular registration ends on 22 April 2025. The tasting will take place from 20 to 22 May 2025 at Doemens. The grand award ceremony will take place on 23 June 2025 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
Once again, a top-class, international jury will analyse and evaluate the beers individually on the basis of an easy-to-understand 100-point scheme. In contrast to conventional beer competitions, the Finest Beer Selection is not a competition in which beers are compared with other beers. Instead, the tasting format is an annual sensory quality test that serves as meaningful internal and external feedback for the participating breweries. Only the best beers of a year with a Finest Beer Score of 90 or more points make it into the exclusive circle of the Finest Beer Selection and receive the corresponding seal of quality.
Dr Werner Gloßner, Managing Director of the Doemens Akademie, which is behind the Finest Beer Selection together with Meininger Verlag, summarises the advantages for the participating breweries: ‘The core is a neutral quality test carried out by a highly professional tasting team. In addition, marketing tools are provided to anchor the high value of the brewery's own products in the minds of customers and beer drinkers.’
‘The Finest Beer Selection offers all players in the brewing industry a reliable guide to excellent beer quality,’ confirms Nicola Buchner, Managing Director of the Association of Graduate Beer Sommeliers. Alongside the Association of Doemensians, the association is the conceptual partner of the Finest Beer Selection, with Rastal, Ullrich Anlagenbau and Winterhalter on board as partners, Krones, Siemens and Hopsteiner as premium partners and Weyermann Malz as a platinum partner.
The special ‘Beer of the Year’ and ‘Brewery of the Year’ awards, which are presented once to German and once to international representatives, are likely to be particularly coveted again this year. Last year's winners were Maisel & Friends (German Brewery of the Year), Hertog Jan (Brewery of the Year international & Beer of the Year international) and Störtebeker Braumanufaktur (German Beer of the Year).
The search for the successors begins now and the brewing industry can look forward to seeing which brewery or which beers stand out in particular.
